Most people don't realize this, but the Monero community and the silver community share some important common values:
- Privacy: Just like cash and Monero, most local silver dealers do not require an ID or KYC to trade with you. They don't even ask for your name.
- Liquidity: There are local silver dealers all over the world who will buy and sell silver for cash any day of the week.
- Freedom: The desire for privacy does not make you a criminal. Saying "I don't need privacy because I have nothing to hide" is just like saying "I don't need freedom-of-speech because I have nothing to say". Privacy is a cornerstone of freedom. Good people deserve privacy. Transacting using private methods (like cash, Monero, and silver) is the easiest way to preserve your freedom.
I feel like Monero and silver work well together, and so I want to make it easier for people to trade them directly (instead of having to go through a fiat or BTC intermediary). This will help Monero to develop a better circular economy and make the trading process more efficient and free (as in freedom).
Just to get started, I am doing the trades on LocalMonero and MoneroMarket. If there is enough demand, I will create a more professional process, but these services are a great starting point ─ they use arbitration bonds (escrow) to guarantee that nobody gets ripped off, and I'm happy to support them because they offer a great service to the Monero community:
